DEAR SON: LETTER 11 THE POWER OF FRUSTRATION

A father sends a glowing bird carrying a scroll, symbolizing a message of hope. A young man stands amidst a storm, guided by fireflies, with a stagnant lake transforming into a flowing river, symbolizing resilience and growth

Dear son,
It’s been a while since I sent the postal bird,
its wings carrying my heart to your world.
Life held my hands hostage,
But the antennas of my ears stay tuned
I stay tuned to every beat of your weary heart.

Dear son,
Frustration knocks like an uninvited storm.
This storm is not to break you, but to wake you
To wake you to the truth,
The truth that says, “You’re meant for more.”
It is not your enemy;
Rather, it’s the thunderclap of change.
Though it rattles, shakes, and unsettles,
I sent it not to break you, son
I sent it to wake you,
reminding you that you are not where you belong.

Dear son,
I sent frustration as a firefly in the night,
To be a flicker pointing you to a path unseen.
It is not a chain but a compass,
Calling you to navigate toward more
Than the stagnant waters of now.

Dear son,
Do not wrestle with it until your soul bruises.
It is not a foe to fight
But a whistleblower unveiling hidden treasures.
Enough of one spot, son
Enough of self-inflicted storms.
For the world awaits your voice,
To be a light that guides them from shadowed lands.

Dear son,
Nine months birthed the baby you,
But it takes years to birth the man you must become.
Let frustration not depress your spirit
But sculpt your resolve.
Feed not the wolves of despair,
But rise with gratitude for it.

Dear son,
Squeeze its juice of purpose,
wring from it the wisdom it conceals.
No longer shall frustration bruise you;
Instead, it will build your capacity
To break chains and chart paths unknown.

Dear son,
You cannot lead others from oppression’s pit
if you’ve never climbed its walls yourself.
Frustration is the forge,
And you, the blade being tempered
To carve paths of promise for the waiting souls.

Dear son,
Arise now, and let frustration be your spark
The spark that ignites your light within.
I urge you, son,
To choose the vision you wish to see,
For you are not defeated; you’re destined.
And remember always, son,
That my endless love holds you.
Until I write again,
Stay strong, son.

ABOUT THE POEM

I wrote this piece “dear son: letter 11 – the power of frustration” in quest to solve the puzzle that comes with the feeling of frustration and how to deal with frustration in life from the place of personal experiences.

I wrote it in guise of a heartfelt letter from a father to his son, but in real sense, it is a letter I wrote to myself and my young friend Sam to emphasize that frustration is not a defeat but a signal for our change, growth, and resilience.

I crafted it to reflect themes like overcoming life’s challenges, finding purpose in tough times, and turning frustration into motivation, this poem provides emotional and practical guidance for those feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

It is perfect for readers seeking encouragement during hard times and ways to channel frustration into positive transformation without seeking encouragement from any external sources. This poem is inspired from the reading in 1Samuel 30 vs 4 and 6
