Dear God, 

Please don’t leave me on this tempestuous road. 

Don’t leave me in this storm and thunder. 

Every step I take is heavy with anguish; 

I have tilled the earth with my hands, 

with my hands, yet I’ve found only dust and despair. 

My God, I cry like a leper, don’t leave me now. 

This path you carved for me 

I have stumbled many times. 

I’ve lost myself in shadows darker than the night. 

I remember the night I swore never to call on you again. 

I remember the hour my hope lay broken, 

the shards piercing my soul. 

But please, don’t give up on me yet. 

I remember the ocean of sin, 

its waves pulling me under. 

Yes, God, I remember it all. 

But who am I? 

What am I 

When your grace is absent from my equation? 

Without you, I am ash in the wind, 

A leaf plucked from the tree. 

Please don’t leave me in this scary forest of life. 

Dear God, 

I scream for your mercy. 

I’m a drowning man clutching at the hem of eternity. 

I know! 

I’ve been an ingrate, God! 

I’m more a wanderer than a child. 

Please don’t give up on me yet. 

I remember when I walked atop the sea, 

on the sea, yet cursed you for the splashes on my face. 

I was blind, ungrateful, and lost. 

Please don’t give up on me.

Don’t leave me to perish. 

Please, God, hear me. 

Please don’t let me stay in this wilderness alone. 

I scream till my voice breaks, 

Till heaven quakes with my plea: 

Don’t give up on me, please. 

The road is slippery, 

A serpent of terror coiled around my feet. 

I’m falling, God. 

I’m falling. Please don’t let go of me. 

My footing is gone, 

And the darkness grows bold. 

Please don’t give up on me.

Please don’t leave me. 

Oh God!! please, 

don’t leave me,

I beg with everything I have, 

with every tear, every breath, 

every whisper of my soul:
