I LIED

A black and white portrait of a sad person smiling through tears, expressing deep emotional pain and hidden struggles

Yesterday, I lied
When I said those birds were singing for me.
Those sparkling smiles were just a shield.
I lied when I told you, “It’s fine.”
It wasn’t to scare you but to shield my scars.
I’ve got bullet wounds,
From bullet wounds to bullet dreams.
I’ve been a survivor of the unmerciful universe,
So I lied.

Today, again, I lied.
Yesterday had promised roses today,
But thorns pricked like forgotten dreams.
Like a bright facade, I masked it in laughter
While shadows whispered.
Each word like a heavy feather,
Hoping you’d believe the story I spun,
So I lied.

Tomorrow,
perhaps I’ll find the strength
To peel back layers of the tales I weave,
To let you in where silence now resides.
But fear holds tightly to the threads of tides;
The echoes of my battles still entwined.
Yet in this moment, I’ll wear my smile.
I’ll wear the smiles
Maybe one day, it won’t be a lie.

We all lie fam!
We lie with hope that some day those lies will become truth.
This is good. Thank you for bringing up inspiring write ups

Lovely piece. Lies though bad are necessary sometimes and a protective shield. For example most mothers lie to protect thier offsprings or situationships as i like to put it.
